SCENARIO: A mutual funds manager needs to easily isolate and communicate the best funds for his/her clients. Using Visual Discovery, this three-chart ADVIZOR dashboard page provides the ability to slice and dice through the data to quickly answer key questions.

Color &
Selection
- Left click and
drag your mouse across the Balanced and Small Cap bars in
the bar chart. A sweeping rectangle should appear.
Release the left mouse button. Your bar chart should then
look like this:
Without first looking at a report, we can immediately see in the scatter plot (which includes over 1,700 funds) that Balanced funds tend to have lower rates of return than Small Caps, but also have much lower risk.

Filtering - Click on
the Exclude Unselected
button to hone in on what you selected. Previously gray bars and dots are dismissed from
view, leaving only the colored bars and dots.
Unlike common charting products, all the charts are
immediately updated and scaled to your subpopulation of
interest. The entire dashboard is live and interactive.

Labeling - Hover the cursor over a colored "dot" in
the scatter plot (Alt-Click on a colored "dot" if using the
zero client, Server version of this demo) to get immediate
information about a specific fund. Observe that the details
pop up on the top row of the data sheet.
Looking at
the scatter plot you immediately become interested in a
small group of funds positioned to the right of the diagonal
pattern of dots in the bottom right quadrant. These are
funds that have a high return at a relative low risk. You
are 30 seconds into this demo; one of our customers used to
have four analysts spend days to accomplish the same thing.

Selection - Sweep over those points of interest
in the bottom right quadrant as shown below:
Again, note that only the data in which you are interested
is colored.

Filtering - Click on
the Exclude Unselected
button to hone in on what you selected.
You have now filtered through over 1,700 funds to a handful as
shown in the data table.
